The free event was held at the Bristol and Bath Science Park in Emersons Green and was aimed at women in South Gloucestershire who are either business owners or thinking of starting up on their own. It generated a large amount of interest, with all available places booked up almost immediately and the venue filled to capacity with 70 attendees from a wide range of business backgrounds.

The evening programme featured presentations by three accomplished women who run successful businesses in the South Gloucestershire area including Fleur Turner of ‘Fleur of England’, a successful lingerie company with global clients who spoke about managing a small business on an international scale; Vickie Knighton of ‘Why Franchise Ltd’, a professional franchise consultancy who gave tips on running a successful business; and Claire Jaggard of ‘My Thornbury’, a web business owner and media trainer.

Penny Shingler, a local business owner who attended the event, said: “A fabulous evening listening to three inspirational business women each sharing their own stories and knowledge. Sharing their ideas has already spurred me on to implement new processes within my own business. With over 70 women there it was also a great opportunity to meet and network with like minded business owners."

There was also a networking opportunity for women to exchange business cards. The event was organised by South Gloucestershire Council as part of our business support programme for small and medium sized enterprises and Red Door Coaching and Training hosted the evening.

Following the positive feedback received from the July 30 event there are already plans to organise a similar event in the autumn.
