We apologise to those affected. You have the following options:

  • Do nothing, as this is the December instalment and will not be taken twice
  • Request that the direct debit is recalled to your bank account by either contacting your bank and asking for an indemnity claim or telling us, in writing, to refund the money to your account.
    • If you choose to have the money returned to your account you must make an arrangement to pay this instalment to us straight away. You can pay by debit/credit card online at www.southglos.gov.uk, by phone on 0845 2450682 or send a cheque to us at the address on your Council Tax bill.

If you have incurred any bank charges as a direct result of the direct debit being taken a day early, you may be able to reclaim the charges from us. You will need to provide us with a copy of your bank statement or the letter from your bank which tells you of the charges applied.

This should be sent to the Revenues Service address found on your Council Tax bill and we will look into refunding the charge to you.

Further information is available from our contact centre. You can either telephone 01454 868009, send an email to counciltax@southglos.gov.uk or call in at one of our One Stop Shops.
