Following a ballot of members nationally, local government trade unions including UNISON have confirmed industrial action will take place on Thursday 10 July. Any strike action is likely to impact on council services however we have put plans in place to ensure critical services will be protected.

The National Union of Teachers will also take strike action in schools on the same day. The impact on schools may be greater than usual as both teaching and non-teaching support staff could be on strike causing some schools to close or partially close. The full impact of the industrial action will not be known until Thursday. Residents are advised that any non-urgent enquiries to the council may not be answered until Friday or the following week.

Parents and carers are advised to check for details of school closures online www.southglos.gov.uk/schoolclosures and possible disruption to council services including bin collections and library closures can be found on our website at www.southglos.gov.uk/industrialaction
