Do you know a care and support worker who is giving outstanding care?

We are encouraging residents to nominate for South Gloucestershire’s Care and Support Awards 2015.

These awards recognise the dedication and contribution of local care and support workers who have gone the extra mile in providing high quality care to enable people to lead the lives they want to live.

Adults & Housing Chair Cllr Ben Stokes said: “We have some incredible people in the care and support industry and we want to make sure they get the appreciation they deserve. If you know a care or support worker who you think goes the extra mile and deserves to be recognised then please nominate them for an award.  You can also make a nomination on behalf of a friend, family member or someone else receiving support if you believe their care and support worker deserves to be nominated.

“Each of these awards recognises the important role of care and support workers in providing high quality support. You might nominate people because they are flexible, focus on how you would like things done, treat you with dignity and compassion, or for another special reason of your own.”

The awards are open to a broader audience than the Home Carer of the Year award (which it replaces) accepting nominations from across the care sector. The awards categories are:
• Personal assistant of the year – somebody employed by a direct payment recipient, or a self-employed personal assistant
• Care home worker of the year – both residential and nursing homes
• Home care or supported living worker of the year – including those in Extra Care Housing
• Day services worker of the year.

To make your nomination please download the nomination form from www.southglos.gov.uk/careandsupportawards2015 and either email it to cchengagement@southglos.gov.uk or post it to us at the following address:

If you would like to make your nomination over the telephone please call 01454 862356, leave a message with your name and telephone number and someone will ring you to take your nomination.

The closing date for nominations is Monday 14 December. Nominations are only eligible for people living in South Gloucestershire who are carers and support workers of residents aged 18 and over.

There will be an awards ceremony to celebrate the achievement of all those who have been nominated and to present the care and support workers chosen as finalists and winners with their awards.
