Councillors will be invited to approve recommendations to create a town council for Emersons Green and a parish council for Stoke Lodge and The Common.

The recommendations follow the council’s recent review of its community governance arrangements, which considered options to create, merge or alter parish boundaries to make sure they properly reflect the communities they serve.

Residents were consulted on a range of options, with consultation activities including public exhibitions and drop-in sessions at local libraries.

After considering responses, officers recommended the creation of a new town council area to include the new Emersons Green East development, and a new parish council for Stoke Lodge and The Common.

Also on the agenda in this meeting will be the election of a new Chair and Vice-Chair of Council for the coming year.

Their duties will include representing the council at civic functions, and chairing full council meetings.

The council AGM is open to the public and takes place in the Council Chamber, Civic Centre, High Street, Kingswood from 7pm.

Papers for the meeting were published this week and can be viewed online at www.southglos.gov.uk
