Area Forums bring together local residents, councillors, parish councils and community organisations and everyone attending is encouraged to join in the discussions before any formal decisions are made.
On the agenda for all meetings is our budget consultation which has just been launched, upcoming highways maintenance priorities, and progress on the Local Transport Capital Programme. Area Forums are also the place where decisions are made regarding the allocation of local funding including Positive Activities Subsidy funds and the New Homes Bonus scheme.
There are still Positive Activities Subsidy grant funds available for the provision of youth services through the Southern Brooks, The Chase and Severn Vale Area Forums. Local organisations are invited to submit applications for consideration at Area Forum meetings taking place in February and March 2014. For information regarding the application process and funding deadlines visit the Quartet website www.quartetcf.org.uk
Examples of projects that have been awarded New Homes Bonus funding to date include £36,000 towards the regeneration of Filton Avenue Shopping Centre, £32,000 towards the provision of allotments in Frampton Cotterell and £1,000 towards the cost of stage curtains at Charfield Village Hall. Come along to meetings in November and December and help shape where the next round of funding will be spent.
All Area Forum meetings include an open session for members of the public to put any questions to councillors and officers on any matter in the area, so why not come along and join in the debate at the following locations:
The Chase – Tuesday 19 November, 7pm, Council Chamber, Civic Centre, Kingswood
Southern Brooks – Tuesday 26 November, 7pm, Greenfield Centre, Winterbourne
