‘Now I’m Retiring’ is aimed at anyone who is about to retire or new to retirement. The event will feature a marketplace of clubs, volunteering opportunities and hobbies to inspire ideas for filling your time after retirement. Visitors can find out about all of the exciting and rewarding opportunities that are available to them and discover more about social and volunteering activities that are on offer in South Gloucestershire.
There are a large number of organisations taking part in the event including Yate Volunteer Centre, Well Aware, Walking To Health, Carers Support Centre, Merlin, Retired and Senior Volunteer Programme (RSVP), Action For Blind People, and Age UK South Gloucestershire. There will be a host of information on offer and representatives from these organisations will be available for visitors to chat with.
Sue Jaques, Community Engagement Officer with South Gloucestershire Council, said: “Many people find it difficult to adjust when full time employment comes to an end and they have extra time on their hands. We hope that this event will inform people of the wide range of activities that are available in South Gloucestershire.”
She added: “Retirement is a fantastic time of life and there are lots of rewarding ways people can make use of their experience and free time, from learning new skills to providing company for some of our lonely older residents.”
