Our popular annual community event runs from 10.30am to 4pm at Kingswood Park, High Street, Kingswood and provides a variety of entertainment for young people and family members including a selection of live music acts, dancers, face painting, street art displays and a variety of food stalls to enjoy.

The main stage will feature the winners of our Fam Jam competition X-Plode, a South Gloucestershire based street dance act who will be performing at 2.30pm. Other acts appearing on the main stage include percussionists Poco Drom, musician Katie Salt, traditional Irish music group The Ceili, singer Rachael Coulson, Euro-Celtic fusion outfit Knock on Wood, plus the traditional sounds of wind instrumentalists Kingswood Winds and the Cadbury Heath Choir.

Throughout the day there will be circus skills and drumming workshops and performances by entertainers for young people taking place in different areas of the park. There will also be fairground rides, arts and crafts, a Wild4life Wild Zone with fun activities that explore the natural environment, plus an interactive musical maze that has been constructed from recycled materials.

In addition, there will be stalls with information about what services the council and its partner organisations such as the NHS provide to families in South Gloucestershire and where to go to receive further advice and support.

Tying in with National Family Week which runs from 27 May to 2 June, the event is aimed at the whole family, and helps build stronger communities by bringing people together to have fun and enjoy everything their local area has to offer.

Family Fun Day event organiser George Kousouros talks about the event on this short video clip http://youtu.be/mG38L14ia7I He said: “Come along to our popular event in Kingswood Park and enjoy a great day out for the whole family. There are lots of entertaining activities planned throughout the day including live music from some talented local musicians and a routine from street dance crew X-Plode, who won our competition to perform on the main stage.

“There will also be a variety of stalls with information about what services we offer to families and where to go to receive further advice and support. We hope to see as many people as possible and because this event falls during the school holidays it is the perfect place to enjoy a great day out.”
