Changes to bus services

The amendments to be introduced on 2 September will include minor timetable changes which will improve reliability and accessibility to local amenities such as rail services at Parkway Station and supermarkets.
Other changes include the U7 Cribbs Causeway to UWE and U8 Bradley Stoke to Bristol City centre, which the council stepped in to support after these services were cancelled by Wessex Red earlier this year. These supported services have been cancelled following the introduction of a commercially operated service, the 74.
The 85, 87 and 88 services in the Yate area have been replaced by a new service, the 222. This will connect Chipping Sodbury, Yate, Iron Action and Frampton Cotterell with Emersons Green, Kingswood and Longwell Green. Sections of the route will be a demand responsive service where passengers can phone up two hours in advance and book slight detours off the route to pick them up.
The 312 service between Thornbury and Downend has also been extended and will now serve the new Hortham Village development.
Cllr Brian Allinson, Chair of Planning, Transportation and Strategic Environment Committee, said: “Even in tough times we are determined to do what we can to maintain a good public transport network that is convenient and accessible to our residents and this announcement is evidence of that.”
