We are encouraging residents to get into the party spirit and help celebrate the 60th anniversary of the coronation by decorating your home or dressing up in your best bib and tucker. Everyone who sends in photos of their royal-inspired costumes or bunting-festooned homes will be in with a chance of winning some coronation-themed goodies.

And if you are holding a coronation event in South Gloucestershire and would like it posted on our facebook page www.facebook.com/sgloscouncil please contact us at strategiccommunications@southglos.gov.uk and we can add it on for you. There are plenty of events to choose from, including a big lunch in Chipping Sodbury on Sunday 2 June.

Following on from the successful Diamond Jubilee lunch last year, Broad Street will be transformed into a giant picnic area to celebrate the coronation. The idea is that you all bring your own food and refreshments and set up tables and gazebos. Local pubs and cafes will be running special stalls and entertainment for all ages so dust off your bunting, start planning your picnic, and put the date in your diary. For more information visit the MySodbury website at www.mysodbury.co.uk

Nationally, there are many events happening around the country to mark the Queen’s coronation including a special festival running from July 11 to 14 so there is plenty of time to organise your own event and enter our competition.

Simply email your photos to strategiccommunications@southglos.gov.uk along with your name, address and a daytime contact telephone number.

We will add your photos to our facebook page www.facebook.com/sgloscouncil and ask people to vote for the winner by ‘liking’ their favourite photo.

Competition terms and conditions:

• Entries must be received by Sunday 21 July

• Photos must be taken during June or July 2013

• Entries (houses and individuals) must be from South Gloucestershire

• Permission must be sought from all individuals in photos submitted, with agreement from the parent/carer for anyone under 18 years old

• The competition winners will be notified in August.
