Advice and support for people living with dementia

The roadshows offer practical, emotional and health advice aimed at anyone who has recently been diagnosed with dementia, and carers or families of people with dementia. They are intended to provide people with the information they need to understand their diagnosis and make the most of living with dementia. They will also inform people of the support that’s available and how to access this support.

Each roadshow will feature a welcome and overview from a local GP, and will include a specialist’s guide to medication and treatment. There will be talks on managing legal affairs, covering subjects such as power of attorney and advanced directives, and presentations focusing on memory techniques and tips. Experts will be on hand to answer any questions and offer practical advice and information, plus a range of stalls featuring information from local organisations will also be available, including support aimed at carers.

Friday 20 September will see the launch of the Patchway Dementia Action Alliance (PDAA). South Gloucestershire Council and South Gloucestershire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) are working alongside Southern Brooks Community Partnership to support a group of individuals, community groups, services and businesses to take steps to make Patchway a better place for people with dementia and their carers to live.

The launch takes place on Friday 20 September from 10am to 1.30pm at Coniston Community Centre, Coniston Road, Patchway, South Gloucestershire BS34 5LP
