The Kingswood Hub will be officially opened at 11:30am on 16 March and local children and their families are being given a chance to see first hand the range of services on offer.

Guided tours will be available from 11am and 12:15pm on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Hub concept aims to make it easy for families to access vital council and NHS services for children and young people by bringing providers together in one convenient location.

Services available include community paediatrician services, educational psychologists, child and adolescent mental health services, family support services, early years services and physiotherapy.

The centre also provides a base for health and council professionals who work with children and young people in the Kingswood area and is run as a partnership between South Gloucestershire Council, North Bristol NHS Trust and NHS South Gloucestershire.

South Gloucestershire executive member for Children & Young People’s Services Sheila Cook said: "South Gloucestershire is a fantastic place for young people to grow up, with facilities such as the Kingswood hub providing children and their parents with fast and easy access to vital health and social services.

"The hub concept, which puts key agencies together under one roof in the heart of their communities, has already proved a big success in Yate and Patchway and I am delighted that the Kingswood Hub has now officially opened as well.”

Lindsay Gee, Programme Lead, Children’s Health Services, Disabled Children & CAMHS at NHS South Gloucestershire said: "We hope that local people will come and see the wonderful facilities at the new Kingswood Hub, which brings together vital health and council services and will be a valuable resource for their families.

Teresa Bailey, North Bristol NHS Trust’s Area Health Manager for South Gloucestershire, said: “The new Kingswood Hub has given us the opportunity to bring our staff together from various different locations across South Gloucestershire and has also enabled us to work more closely with our colleagues from the local authority.

“We have moved the Community Children’s Health Partnership staff working in South Gloucestershire into two new hubs at Patchway and Kingswood.

“The staff that have moved include community paediatrics, child and adolescent mental health, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, school health nursing, health visitors and speech and language therapists.

“We are all delighted at being under roof and it will make the patient’s journey much smoother.”

The Hub is located on Alma Road in Kingswood. Further information is available at www.southglos.gov.uk/hubs or by calling 01454 868 008.

Normal opening times for the Hub are 08:30-17:30 Mon-Thurs, and 08:30-16:30 on Fridays.
