Domestic Violence and Abuse Strategy

Overview

The Domestic Violence and Abuse Strategy outlines how we will meet the challenges posed by domestic abuse in our area.

The strategy includes the strategic response to the statutory duties imposed by the Domestic Abuse Act 2021 but includes much more than that. As well as our support for victims it also includes how we will work to reduce the level and harm caused by domestic violence and abuse.

Through delivery of this strategy, we aim to make South Gloucestershire a place where domestic abuse is not tolerated. Furthermore, the strategy recognises and seeks to respond to the impact of domestic abuse across all generations, particularly on children and young people.

Consultation process

This strategy was publicly consulted between 26 October 2021 to 5 January 2022.

As a result of feedback, several changes were made to the draft strategy including, adding the prevention work within the objectives of the strategy to ensure this vital work is properly recognised as part of the aim to reduce Domestic Violence and Abuse.
