The team say that more adults are cycling than ever before but many have not received formal cycle training since they were at school and often benefit from a chance to update their skills.

As well as providing advice on cycling technique, the free course provides advice on cycle maintenance and on selecting safe cycling routes.

The team have also commissioned a video to encourage people who think they are already good cyclists to think again.

Road safety officer Pam Williams said: “As people will see from our video, we have a very simple message which is that cycle training is for everyone, not just children or people new to cycling.

“That includes people who cycle regularly and might not consider themselves in need of formal training.

“In fact, these can be just the type of people who do need a refresher because they use the roads more often and put themselves at greater risk if their technique isn’t up to scratch.”

Adult cycle training courses can be booked online at http://www.southglos.cycletms.com/ or by telephoning 01454 868449.
