Trading standards - fair trading

Consumers have the right to expect the goods or services that they buy are accurately described and fairly priced, with honest credit or hire terms offered. Whilst businesses have the right to trade on equal terms.

We make sure that consumers are treated fairly by traders supplying goods or services. This includes consumer credit, business names, counterfeiting, pricing, description of goods, and rogue traders. For consumer enquiries or complaints, please contact the Citizens Advice consumer service on 03454 04 05 06 Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

We also advise and work with local businesses to help comply with legislation and investigate complaints relating to possible criminal offences. For businesses seeking advice, advice and guidance leaflets are available or you can contact the trading standards office.
