The MetroWest project is a phased approach to new rail lines and new services in the West of England area.
Phase 1 would re-open the Portishead rail line and improve services to Bath and on the Severn Beach Line. New train services could start operating from 2019, this is subject to funding and meeting all the regulatory and technical requirements.
Phase 2 of the MetroWest would provide half-hourly train services to Yate and hourly services on a reopened Henbury Line with new stations at North Filton and Henbury, plus an additional station at Ashley Down (south of Filton Abbey Wood) If funding and the regulatory and technical requirements are all secured, services could start from 2021.
