Space Chase, Summer Reading Challenge 2019
Congratulations to the more than 5,000 children who took part in Space Chase, Summer Reading Challenge 2019.
This summer children went on an out of this world adventure inspired by the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing. As they read books they solved the clues and collected special stickers (including some stinky ones!) to complete their mission folder and get a medal and certificate. There was lots of fun and adventures along the way with Fizz Pop Science workshops, Lego™ Mindstorm Mars Rover Challenges with Aerospace Bristol and craft activities.
“I think the Reading Challenge is fantastic…My children embraced the challenge and had their heads in books at every opportunity during a busy summer. They have read books in a way they never have before.”
(Parent, Downend Library)
“I think that this is a fun reading challenge that gets you reading books that you might not normally read. I look forward to these every year.”
(Child, Thornbury Library).
The fun doesn’t stop when the summer holidays end – libraries run free activities for children and families throughout the year including Chatterbooks reading groups, Code Clubs, Lego Clubs and holiday activities, as well as having a fantastic selection of books to read.
