Preparing for civil emergencies - accident hazards

Inevitably, there is always the potential for an accident at a major industrial site.  These sites are closely monitored by the Health and Safety Executive to ensure that they are constructed, maintained, and operated in a safe manner, so that the risk is minimised as much as possible.  However it is prudent to prepare should such an accident occur.  If an accident occurs at an industrial site the first response will be by the emergency services who will have the role of saving lives and preventing the situation worsening.  The council will assist the emergency services in providing rest centres and transport if needed.

The Avon and Somerset Local Resilience Forum provides a risk register of potential risks in the area which is used to develop plans to respond to the range of potential incidents.

We have prepared guidance sheets on how you can prepare for an evacuation, or an emergency at home.
