Memory cafés
Please note that the following Memory Cafes that are run by the Alzheimers Society are operating on an online basis: Filton, Winterbourne, Yate, Emersons Green and Longwell Green.

Memory cafés offer a friendly welcome for anyone affected by dementia, or worried about their or someone else’s memory. They provide practical information and support, as well as the opportunity for people to ask questions and to listen to others’ experience. They also provide an informal and social environment in which to learn new skills, enjoy activities, listen to guest speakers and make new friends.
There are several memory cafes in South Gloucestershire, some are operated by Alzheimer’s Society and some are run by community volunteers and each has a different style. Please contact individual cafes for opening times:
The Winterbourne Memory Café is open from 2pm to 4pm on the first Monday of every month (apart from bank holidays), and is held at the Greenfield Centre, Park Avenue, Winterbourne, BS36 1NJ.
Takes place on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of every month in The Sportsman’s Lounge at Charfield Memorial Hall between 10am and 11am.
The group offers friendship and support to people of all ages living in Charfield and the surrounding villages, particularly those who are living with, or caring for someone with memory problems.

The Thornbury Memory Café is run by local people, and supports those in Thornbury and the surrounding area with some form of memory loss. The café meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month at 10.15am in the Methodist Church Hall. Anyone with a memory problem, together with a carer or friend is welcome.
