Public recycling banks
All public recycling banks in supermarket car parks, village hall car parks, social clubs and sports clubs have been removed as agreed at the Community Committee meeting on 5 November 2014. Further information on the meeting can be found at www.southglos.gov.uk/communitiescommitteepaper
The banks have been removed for the following reasons:
- all of the materials collected at the recycling banks can be recycled using the household kerbside recycling collections and the recycling service for flats.
- the savings made by these proposals have been reinvested to provide improved recycling services for flats
- a number of requests were made to remove recycling banks from car parks to free up parking spaces
- at some locations there were issues with local businesses using the banks to dispose of commercial waste.
Recycling banks are still available at the Sort It centres, and those operated by charities and other organisations have not been affected by these changes.
Recycling services for parish and community halls
We understand that some parish and community halls may have been using the recycling banks to dispose of material from community or private events. This material can still be deposited at the four Sort It centres. Alternatively we can arrange a fortnightly commercial collection of recyclable material for an annual fee of £250 per hall. If you wish to discuss this further please contact us. Other commercial waste collectors may also be able to provide a collection service. Is there anything wrong with this page?
