Taxis – additional information

Accidents

If at any time, you are involved in an accident you must inform the licensing authority immediately or the next working day whichever is sooner. This may be an oral report in the first instance but must be followed up by the completion of an accident report form within seven days of the accident. Failure to do so will result in penalty points being issued.

Change of address

The driver shall within seven days notify the licensing authority of any change of address, including the name and address of any company from whom bookings are made during the period of the licence.

Taxi drivers and the Disability Discrimination Act

If you are a hackney carriage or private hire driver you should be aware of the Disability Discrimination Act of 1995.

You must allow guide, hearing and other assistance dogs to escort a disabled person. No additional charges can be applied to the carriage of assistance dogs.

If you have a medical condition that prevents you from coming into contact with dogs you can apply to us for an exemption. You will need to provide a medical report to confirm this. We will issue a certificate of exemption which should be displayed inside your vehicle.
