New Hackney Carriage or Private Hire vehicles

You need to book a vehicle fitness test with our Broad Lane garage before an appointment can be arranged for us to license the vehicle. Send your completed form to mot.bookings@southglos.gov.uk.

The garage will email you the fitness test appointment. When you have this send it to taxis@southglos.gov.uk to arrange an appointment for the vehicle to be licensed, providing your:

  • full name
  • contact details
  • vehicle registration
  • vehicle make and model

Licensed vehicles can only be driven by people with a Private Hire or Dual Hackney Carriage and Private Hire drivers’ license issued by South Gloucestershire Council.

All new vehicles must be less than 5 years old from its first registration date and all new Hackney Carriage vehicles must be wheelchair accessible.
