New Hackney Carriage or Private Hire vehicles

You need to book a taxi or private hire fitness test with our garage before an appointment can be arranged for us to license the vehicle. Send your completed form to

The garage will email you the fitness test appointment. When you have this send it to providing your full name, contact details, vehicle registration and make and model to arrange an appointment for the vehicle to be licensed.

Licensed vehicles can only be used by people with a Private Hire or Dual drivers’ license with South Gloucestershire Council.

New vehicle applications will not normally be considered for standard vehicles over 5 years old. If your vehicle is over 5 years old and you would like it to be considered for licensing you will need to request a ‘depart from policy’ which incurs a non-refundable cost of £ 130.98

All new Hackney Carriage vehicles must be wheelchair accessible.
