Equalities employment guidance

This is an online resource for busy managers and employers who want to do the right thing, and get it right first time.

Diversity in your workforce isn’t about ticking boxes. It’s about opening your horizons to the widest range of skills and talent that’s around, exceeding your customer’s expectations and valuing everybody.
Wherever you are in recruiting staff, it’s all about

  • Being fair
  • Being even handed
  • Treating people decently
  • Valuing people
  • Respecting differences

New recruits may be different from your regular workforce because they have a different skin colour, faith, gender or a disability. What we’ve done in this guide is to recognise that we’re all different in some way, and set out some principles that will support you in recognising and managing those differences. It can’t answer all your questions, but can point you towards other sources of help.
