Charities and sports clubs relief
Registered charities and registered Community Amateur Sports Clubs (CASC) are entitled to an 80% mandatory reduction in their business rates.
To qualify the property has to be occupied by the charity or club and wholly or mainly be used for charitable or CASC purposes.
In addition to the 80% mandatory relief, the council can use its discretion to top up this relief by a further 20%.
You will need to complete an application form and include the requested supporting documents.
If you wish to be considered for our discretionary top up relief a covering letter will need to be provided requesting this. The department has clear guidelines on how discretionary rate relief can be awarded, if you wish to see this document please contact the business rates team on 01454 867700.
