Concealed entrance signs

Information on how to apply for a warning sign for a concealed entrance.

The council can only put up traffic signs on the road which are included in the Department for Transport’s document ‘Traffic Signs, Regulations and General Directions’.

At present, there is no warning sign for concealed entrances in this document. In order to put one up, we need to get special authorisation from the Department for Transport. Therefore, we only put one up in exceptional cases. This might include an entrance used by a number of slow-moving agricultural vehicles on a route used by a lot of traffic, including many heavy goods vehicles.

If you believe that you have a case for a concealed entrance sign please contact us.
