Small Business Saturday UK, on Saturday 6 December, highlights the importance of small businesses and encourages residents to ‘shop local’.

Participating traders and independent shops will be getting involved at locations including Hanham, Staple Hill and Yate and you can win £100 to spend at one of the businesses.

To be in with a chance of winning, simply tweet the South Gloucestershire Council Twitter account @sgloscouncil on Saturday 6 December and tell us why you like to shop locally and/or suggest your favourite independent shop in South Gloucestershire. All tweets must include the hashtag #southglos and the best tweet will win the voucher.

Abdul Choudhury, Economic Development Officer at South Gloucestershire Council, said: “Small Business Saturday shines a light on the small businesses all over South Gloucestershire who work hard year-round to provide unique products and services.

“Small businesses can help to give an area a real sense of identity, so I’d encourage people to visit their local district centre and take part in the special events that are taking place on Small Business Saturday.”
