From April 2012, all VAT-registered businesses are required to submit their return forms online.

And local libraries are encouraging any businesses that don’t have internet access to drop in and log on for free.

South Gloucestershire Council Community Cultural Services manager Martin Burton said: “We’re delighted to be helping local businesses and supporting HM Revenue & Customs’ campaign to promote online returns.

“South Gloucestershire has a convenient network of local libraries with free internet access so I’d urge anyone who needs to get online to pay us a visit.

“Businesses using the HMRC service will be given an online government account number with a unique user ID, which will keep their data safe and secure.”

For further information on the service, businesses should contact their local library or telephone 01454 868 006 or SMS 07950 080111.
