Around 50 people, or 25 households, attended our open evening last week to find out more about becoming a foster carer with South Gloucestershire Council.

The open evening was part of a campaign currently running to encourage more people to consider fostering some of the 170 children who come into our care.

Nicola Hannaford, Service Manager for the Family Placement Team at South Gloucestershire Council, said: “The good response to our open evening was very encouraging. We will now be working with those who attended to ensure their suitability to start the training course.

“We are still looking for more people to come forward. If you would like to help young people through a challenging time in their lives and feel you can handle demanding situations, we would like to hear from you.

“Our foster carers come from a very wide range of ages and backgrounds. We provide ongoing training and continuous support to give our foster carers the skills to help children and young people through difficult times.”

More information on fostering is also available at www.southglos.gov.uk/fostering or why not give us a call on 01454 866423.
