World Book Night on Thursday 23 April will see enthusiastic readers across South Gloucestershire hand out free books in their communities.

There are 49 individual book givers taking part across South Gloucestershire this year, all keen to share their favourite books from the specially selected official World Book Night list. The full list of this year’s titles are available online at www.worldbooknight.org/books

This annual celebration of reading and books sees tens of thousands of volunteers across the country give away specially chosen and printed World Book Night books to people in their local areas who don’t regularly read. Each volunteer will hand out 20 copies of their favourite book. By enlisting thousands of passionate book lovers around the country World Book Night reaches out to the millions of people in the UK who have yet to fall in love with reading in the hope that it starts them on their reading journey.

We are encouraging South Gloucestershire residents of all ages to get reading this year as part of our Time 4 Reading campaign, which will provide a range of exciting activities, programmes and partnerships throughout the year designed to improve literacy.
