Ian will be leading several owl prowls as part of this autumn’s new festival which features around 200 events including bat walks, a food festival, a solar powered outdoor cinema, bell ringing and a rare chance to visit the collections of the Rolls-Royce Heritage Trust during Heritage Open Days. www.heritageopendays.org.uk

The festival gets under way on Thursday 6 September and runs until November 4. Residents will get the chance to explore the great outdoors through fungi forays and star gazing events; discover great local produce at sampling, demonstration and Apple Day events; celebrate age with a range of exciting activities from opera to bowls for the over 50s and get creative with origami, jewellery making and portrait drawing.

Discover brings together many successful celebrations across South Gloucestershire to provide a fantastic programme of activities for the autumn. The aim is to help people appreciate that South Gloucestershire is a great place to live and work and encourage residents to become more aware of what is on their doorstep.

A full programme of events is available on our website at www.southglos.gov.uk/discover
