Mischief Makers, Summer Reading Challenge 2018
A HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to the more than 5,000 children who have taken part in Mischief Makers, Summer Reading Challenge 2018.
This year’s theme, ‘Mischief Makers’, was inspired by the much-loved children’s title ‘Beano’ which celebrated its 80th anniversary in 2018. Children taking part in the Challenge kept reading during the holidays and helped Beano characters including Dennis and Gnasher, to solve puzzles, follow clues and discover treasure, having lots of fun and adventures along the way.
“The reading challenge has been great for my son, allowing him access to a wide range of books. He’s been excited to reach the next sticker stage and we have been visiting the library weekly.” (Parent)
“My daughter enjoys the reading challenge, I am pleased there is a scheme for children to read in the holidays. It helps my daughter a lot with her reading and gives her more confidence.” (Parent)
The fun doesn’t stop when the summer holidays end – libraries run free activities for children throughout the year including Chatterbooks reading groups, Code Clubs, Lego Clubs and holiday activities, as well as having a fantastic selection of books to read all year round.
