Armed Forces Day

This year’s Armed Forces Day will take place in Thornbury on Saturday 30 June 2018.

It will be held in the Chantry Fields from 10.30am – 4pm with a parade leaving Thornbury High Street at 11.30am.

Our annual Armed Forces Day event is free to attend for all, as we show our gratitude and appreciation to our past, present and future military forces from air, land and sea units.

This year’s parade will include veterans, cadet groups, bands and military vehicles. The procession culminates in a drumhead ceremony and live performances. There will be a wide variety of stalls, stands and activities, including a large number of military vehicles and weapons from the past and present.

Our Armed Forces Day is held in rotation Kingswood, Staple Hill and Thornbury.

We are supporting the establishment of a constituted, community led Armed Forces Day Committee to run future events. If you are interested in becoming a member of this committee, please contact community_projects@southglos.gov.uk for more information.

Last year’s Armed Forces Day celebration was on Saturday 24 June in Staple Hill. It was attended by approximately 16,000 people throughout the day. See below for a selection of photographs.
