PARISH PROFILES

Jeff Rawlinson, Clerk

Jeff was born in Cheshire, moving from Surrey to Pilning 38 years ago. Formerly a Civil Service Executive, then proprietor of Redwick Stores for 28 years, he is now retired from full time employment, following 7 years as a Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages.
Clerk of the Council for over 13 years, Jeff retains his love of sport, enjoys cycling and swimming, and is a keen and active gardener, with a great interest in wildlife and the countryside.

Fiona E H Tyzack, Councillor

Born in Warwickshire, Fiona spent most of her life in Stratford-upon-Avon where her father was Vicar. Her first husband practised as a Chartered Architect. Upon becoming a widowed mother Fiona took up the post of Secretary to the Head Teacher and Central Management Group of the largest of Stratford’s 3 senior schools. Moved to Severn Beach 6 years ago, when she remarried.
Fiona now works part time as a Carer/Companion to a disabled lady in Thornbury. Fiona’s concerns are: bullying and easy access to drugs in schools. Dislikes are: hunting and all cruelty. Likes are: Early English, Baroque and Church music; walking on Exmoor; the English countryside; anything historical; and cats!

Steve Cooper, Councillor

Born in North Shields when it was Northumberland, Steve has lived in Essex, Hampshire and Bristol before moving to Pilning. Currently Business Development Director for a multi-national Power Company, after an earlier career in the Merchant Navy as Chief Engineer’s Officer with Cunard.
Married to Becky, with daughter Anya at Red Maids, son Matthew at Pilning primary, and son Edward is a Pilning Tot. Steve was elected as a Councillor in the May 2003 elections, and is actively progressing the organisation of the Parish Plan. Steve can be contacted on 01454-631360.

Ivor Humphries, Chairman

Born in Pilning in 1940 and married to a local girl, Barbara, they have 3 children and 4 grandchildren. All of the family attended Pilning primary. Ivor worked for 10 years with British Rail and 31 years with ICI.
Now retired, but actively involved as a Governor at Pilning primary, and as Chairman of Pilning Village Hall Committee. Ivor has been a Councillor for over 17 years and is currently serving his second term as Chairman.

Norah Chappell, Councillor

Born in Hallen and moved to Pilning in 1963. Norah has 2 daughters and 7 grandchildren. Her main interest is children, having been a School Governor, a Ranger Guider, and a founder member of Pilning Play Group. Norah is still a helper with the group, a committee member, and Honorary President.
Norah is a long-time member of the Pilning Village Hall Committee, and has been a member of the Parish Council for more than 21 years, serving as Chairman during the 1990s.

Maggie Heslop, Councillor

Born in Swansea and moved to Bristol at the age of 6. Maggie was educated at Kingswood Grammar School (now called Kingsfield). Worked at WD & HO Wills until going into sales in 1968. Maggie was National Sales Manager for a large publishing company until retirement.
Moved into Cranmoor Green 7 years ago and Maggie and husband Tom love it!. They have 1 son and 2 grandchildren. This is Maggie’s first year as a Councillor, and she can be contacted on 01454-633434.
