Can I vote?
You can vote if you are 18 years old or over and a British citizen or an Irish, qualifying Commonwealth or European Union citizen and are resident in the UK.
South Gloucestershire Council maintains a Register of Electors. This contains details of all citizens who are registered to vote in an election within the district of South Gloucestershire. Your name must be on the Electoral Register if you wish to use your right to vote. You are not automatically registered to vote, even if you pay council tax, or have registered to use other council services.
Poll cards are sent out approximately 3 weeks before an election to remind voters of the election and their polling station. You can vote without the poll card, as long as you are included on the register. If you are concerned because you have not received a poll card please ring Electoral Services who will check whether you are on the register and tell you where you should vote.
If you have moved house
As long as you have changed your registration to your new address, you will be able to vote in that area. Otherwise, if your name remains on the register for your old address, you can go on polling day to your old polling station and vote in the normal way. If it is too late to re-register for the next election and you do not want to go to your old polling station, then complete a postal or proxy vote form to allow you to vote.

If you are under 18 years of age
People under the age of 18 are not allowed to vote. If you are 18 on or before the day of the election you will be able to vote provided that you have registered. You can register to vote if you are 16 or 17.Is there anything wrong with this page?
