Research governance

Research governance aims to ensure quality research and better management of the risks to all those involved in research projects, including safeguarding the public and the interests of the council.

If a project qualifies as research and requires access to the personal data we hold and/or requires access to our customers, service users, stakeholders or staff, then it is subject to research governance.

This research governance framework applies to:

  • South Gloucestershire Council staff
  • contracted providers
  • independent organisations / agents acting on behalf of the council and/or requiring access to the council’s information or clients
