Our dog wardens are responsible for a number of dog-related services.
- lost and found dogs
- rehoming stray dogs
- microchipping dogs – please contact us
- helping solve disputes and problems about dogs
- enforcing dog fouling bye-laws and other legislation
The dog wardens operate five days a week from 8:45 am to 5 pm (4:30 pm on Fridays) and in addition to services above, provide education and advice about dogs and responsible dog ownership. They also give talks to local schools and other community groups on responsible dog ownership. If you would like additional information or your school or group would like the dog wardens to give a talk please contact us.
We will respond to reports of missing and found dogs during office hours and also provide an out of hours service. Please use the link above for further information on how to report lost and found dogs. Please note that there is no collection service for found dogs but dogs can be taken to the kennels until 11pm. (The police no longer have any responsibility for stray dogs).
