Licensing - weighbridge operator

To operate a public weighbridge, you require a certificate of competence issued by the Chief Inspector for Weights and Measures for your local authority.

Licence summary There is no fee for this but you will have to undertake a short exam
Eligibility criteria You must have sufficient knowledge for the proper performance of your duties.

Application evaluation Process We will aim to have determined your application within 28 days of a completed application being submitted.
Will tacit consent apply? No. It is in the public interest that the authority must process your application before it can be granted. If you have not heard from the local authority within a reasonable period, please contact it.
Apply online You must fully complete the application form and make payment of the licence fee before submission to the Licensing Team or the application will be deemed improperly made and returned to you.

Consumer complaint We would always advise that in the event of a complaint the first contact is made with the trader by you – preferably in the form of a letter (with proof of delivery).
