Food hygiene training
The law requires that all food handlers receive adequate training and/or supervision appropriate to the nature of the food business. Although the law does not prescribe that you have to complete any particular course, in general most people handling foods in a catering environment, such as restaurants takeaways etc., will have a level of knowledge equivalent to the RSPH Level 2 award in Food Safety in Catering.
Managers and supervisors would benefit from a higher level of training, for which they can gain intermediate and advanced certificates in food safety. This will enable them to deal with important food safety issues such as ‘hazard analysis’ and ‘due diligence’.
Training for Level 2 Award in Food Safety (Basic Food Hygiene) can now be booked through the council’s Workforce Development Team. To request more information or to book on a session please contact us;
