Today, the disposal of redundant ICT equipment is governed by guidelines and legislation covering such things as data protection, environmental considerations and others. This is because some components used to build computers are considered hazardous when being disposed of. Also, before disposing ICT equipment, deleting computer files from discs and other computer media in the normal way is not sufficient to protect data from possible recovery.
