I am a parent

Man, woman and child

If you are bringing up a child you will know that it can be the greatest pleasure and the biggest challenge. Between childbirth and leaving home a child needs you to keep them safe and to support them; at school, in relationships; if they’re bullied, or the bully. This is a great responsibility and your child’s attitudes to education, work and life will almost certainly be affected by their experiences in these early years.

As well as providing parks and play areas, your council provides schooling and a host of other services to support you and your child. With the other organisations, listed on this page, you will find essential advice and support for you and your child.

You can also help us to improve our services. We respect your views and if you have any comments about this page, suggestions, or advice that would help other parents and carers, please use the contact us button and send us your ideas.
