When will work start?
The work is planned to start on 27th May
How long will the scheme take?
The bridge strengthening is expected to take approximately 16 weeks.
What will be the affect on traffic?
Whilst work is taking place temporary traffic lights will be installed on the A4175 allowing alternate one way traffic across the bridge.
The bridge will also be completely closed to all traffic for 4 or 5 weekends (10pm Friday to 5am Monday) to carry out repairs which cannot be carried out safely with the bridge open. This has been planned to take place at weekends to minimise disruption and traffic will be diverted along the A4174.
The Lock Keeper Public House is open for trade as usual throughout the duration of the bridge repair works.
Will bus services be affected?
Bus services will continue as normal. During closures there will be some changes to the locations of the following stops:
Cyclists and pedestrians can use the bridge at all times
Why is work needed on the bridge?
To ensure that the bridge remains safe for use
Diversion routes
These diversion routes will only be in place during weekend closures. Whilst normal work on the bridge is being carried out the bridge there will be no diversions in place.
