Road safety engineering

A road safety engineering scheme

The road safety engineering team has a number of responsibilities, including:

  • Maintaining a database of all reported accidents involving injury on roads in South Gloucestershire
  • Using the data to look at ways that action can be taken to try to reduce the severity and frequency of road accidents
  • Producing the council's road casualty review and other documents that outline our aims and objectives for road safety and our progress in reducing accidents to date
  • Carrying out safety audits of traffic schemes and offering guidance to other teams about their work on the highway
