There are six railway stations serving South Gloucestershire. Bristol Parkway is the principal station with direct services to London Paddington, South Wales, the South West, the Midlands and destinations further afleld.
The council works to improve train services and facilities for passengers by: - Investing in local stations in partnership with rail companies and parish councils
- Improving interchange for passengers arriving on foot, by bicycle, and on buses
- Working with train operators, Network Rail, central government and other local authorities on long-term plans to improve rail services, reopen railway lines and build new stations
You can get timetable information from the National Rail Enquiries website (see "Other websites").
The main train operators in the Greater Bristol area are First Great Western and Cross Country Trains. South West Trains also run services from Bristol Temple Meads to London Waterloo. Train operators and other providers offer on-line facilities for advanced bookings for train journeys. Please contact the relevant train operator with any queries.
There is a handy guide to rail services to Filton Abbey Wood station which may be useful if you are relocating to MoD Abbey Wood or if you are planning to commute to employment in the Filton area or Filton College. The guide is available in the "read more" section on the right.
