Parking on the pavement and dropped kerbs

Parking on the pavement - particularly when it obstructs wheelchair users, is a matter for the local police.

Dealing with parking on pavements and verges where it is public highway and where there are yellow lines on the road alongside them is the responsibility of the council.

If pavement parking presents a problem to you, please contact your local police station. The website for Avon and Somerset Police can be found under 'Other websites'.

Parking on / next to dropped kerbs - Recent legislation allows councils to enforce against vehicles which may cause an obstruction to pedestrians. South Gloucestershire Council will issue Penalty Charge Notice where a vehicle has parked obstructing a dropped kerb.
