A4018 Cribbs Causeway/Lysander Road West
The northbound entry and circulatory carriageway of the Cribbs Causeway/ Lysander Road roundabout will be widened to allow the provision of a short length of bus lane. This will enable buses to avoid the queue of right turning traffic that occurs during the peak retail period. This widening will require relocation of the existing northbound bus stop on the A4018 Cribbs Causeway south of the roundabout to the east of the roundabout on Lysander Road.
Current situation
The majority of the work has been completed and the bus lane is now open to all local services.
Aztec West roundabout
Proposed scheme
The carriageway will be widened to provide new eastbound and westbound bus lanes between the Aztec West Business Park and Woodlands Lane. An additional bus lane is proposed eastbound on the exit from the business park. This will allow buses to avoid the queues and delays that occur on the approaches to the roundabout during the weekday morning and evening peak periods.
In addition to the new bus lanes an extra general traffic lane is to be provided on Bradley Stoke Way from Aztec West roundabout to the Woodlands Lane junction in an eastward direction. Additional general traffic lanes are also proposed on the northbound and southbound sides of the Aztec West roundabout gyratory.
To facilitate these changes and further reduce congestion on Bradley Stoke Way westbound, the right turn lane into Woodlands Lane from Bradley Stoke Way is proposed to be banned.

A4174 Hambrook Road junction improvements
Proposed scheme
- lengthen the westbound slip roads to Hambook and Frenchay to reduce the amount of queuing traffic in these lanes causing congestion at the junction
- remove the redundant footpath across the Ring Road at this location.
Current situation
The road works are completed.
