A raised kerb is slightly higher than a standard kerb and allows low-floor buses to stop level with the kerb. They allow easy direct access for those with mobility problems or pushchairs.
They give greater independence to passengers who may struggle to use public transport.
South Gloucestershire Council is introducing raised bus kerbs throughout the area as part of the Joint Local Transport Plan.
The Joint Local Transport Plan is an ongoing investment programme to improve transport in South Gloucestershire and across Great Bristol.
