Stoke Park and Cheswick - Parish Council Consultation

This consultation is now closed

The Council are carrying out a review of the way decisions are made on local issues in your area and want to hear your views. We want to know if you would like a Parish Council created to represent the interests of Stoke Park and Cheswick.

Why are we carrying out the review?

We review our set up every few years through a process called a “community governance review” as part of our legal obligations, and in addition we have received a request from Stoke Gifford Parish Council asking for the parishing arrangements for Stoke Park and Cheswick to be reviewed.

How will the review impact me?

If a new parish council was created for Stoke Park and Cheswick this could result in the following changes:

  • A stronger voice on what happens in Stoke Park and Cheswick, such as planning applications and the management of public spaces
  • Greater control over the look and feel of your area, for instance adding additional seating and bins in public spaces
  • Better reporting on value for money – the parish council will have to report to you on local spending and how they have delivered what you asked for

How to have your say

We would like to know what you think.

Marking a consultation as relevant to a particular audience indicates that it may be of special relevance to people within that group. It doesn't, however, mean that other groups wont find the consultation of interest - we welcome responses from everybody.
For example, education issues may be of particular interest to Parents & Guardians, and so will be shown to people searching the system for parenting issues, but the views of others (eg: Business, Faith Groups) are also relevant.
