Information to assist parents and carers in the initial stages of choosing a primary school for their child.

Primary school admissions for September 2014

Unless you decide to educate your child at home, your child must be in school the term following their fifth birthday.  Therefore, if your child was born between 1 September 2009 and 31 August 2010 they can start primary or infant school in September 2014.

  • The opening date for applications to reception year was 9 September 2013.
  • The closing date for reception year applications was Wednesday 15 January 2014. If you have not applied for a school place you may still apply but it will be considered as a late application.

Admission to primary school booklet

The information contained in the primary admission booklet and on this website is intended to help you in the initial stages of the application to primary school process.  We strongly advise you to read through the information in these booklets before applying for a school place. 

Once you have read the relevant information in the primary admission booklet please either apply online or download, complete and return the paper application form to:

Apply online 

Applying online is the simplest way to apply and also allows you to change your preferences up until the closing date which is 15 January 2014. The online application process will open on 9 September 2013.  If you apply online you will be able to change your preferences right up until the closing date and view the outcome of your application online from 16 April 2014.

Remember there is no substitute for visiting any school that you are considering. We suggest that you visit potential schools before making your preferences as there are many things to consider such as travel arrangements.
