South Gloucestershire News is the council's magazine for residents. It's published three times a year and is delivered directly to households, as well as being available online and at council offices, libraries and leisure centres throughout the district.

We have also launched a digital version of SGN featuring extra content including video and photos.

In this edition we are asking whether you could foster for South Gloucestershire? With around 100 children and young people coming into care each year we are always keen to hear from people interested in becoming foster carers who can make a vital difference to a young person’s life. SGN interviewed existing foster carers about their experiences so if you are feeling inspired by their stories visit www.southglos.gov.uk/fostering to find out more.

In the new digital version of SGN you will find extra content including video and photos. So whether you want to relive Sochi Bronze Medallist Jenny Jones’s homecoming parade through the streets of Downend or find out what private fostering means, you can watch a video about both stories.

Other news featured in this edition includes council tax being frozen for a fourth year and our Core Strategy – a key planning blueprint which maps out future growth in South Gloucestershire – has now been adopted. Read more about how our plans for the Cribbs Causeway and Patchway New Neighbourhood are progressing.

We also talk to head teacher Scott Howes about life at Little Stoke Primary School plus one of our parks is celebrating its 80th birthday this year, but can you guess which one?

As well as our regular news and features, this edition also contains our On the Move supplement providing you with all the latest news about transport.
