Policies, Sites and Places Plan:
Main Modifications Consultation (June 2017)

The Policies Sites and Places Plan (PSP plan) when adopted will form part of the Local Plan for South Gloucestershire and should to be read alongside the Core Strategy (adopted 2013) and the Joint Waste Core Strategy (adopted 2011). The PSP plan contains detailed planning policies to manage new development, allocate and safeguard sites for various types of development. It will replace the remaining ‘saved’ policies of the 2006 Local Plan and 2002 Minerals and Waste Local Plan upon its adoption.

The PSP Plan is subject to an Examination in Public by an independent Inspector, appointed by the Secretary of State, who held hearing sessions on 7, 8, 22 and 23 February 2017. Following the close of the hearing sessions a schedule of Main Modifications has been prepared.

These Main Modifications were published for a six-week period between 12 June and 24 July 2017 and representations were invited during this period.

The modifications are intended to address issues of legal compliance and/or soundness. Therefore, representations should be made in respect of the effect of the modification(s) on the Plan’s soundness or legal compliance.

Please note that at this stage, representations must relate solely to the Main Modifications - this is not an opportunity to make comments on any other part of the PSP Plan. Please also be advised that late representations cannot be taken into consideration by the Inspector or the Council.

In order to assist the understanding of the modifications, the Council has published an informative note setting out important information regarding Local Green Space Designation, the allocation/safeguarding of sites, and the monitoring and implementation of the Plan.

These Main Modifications have been subject to Sustainability Appraisal (SA).

In addition to these Main Modifications, the Council has also published a schedule of Additional Modifications – i.e. those which, taken together, would not materially affect the policies in the plan, such as minor factual updates, grammatical corrections or typographical corrections etc. These Additional Modifications are published for information only, and do not form part of the consultation.

A document has been prepared to display each section, policy and/or associated supporting text where a Main Modification or Additional Modification is to be made to the Policies Sites and Places Plan Proposed Submission (June 2016).

Consequential changes required to the Policies Map arising from the Main and Additional Modifications have been prepared for information only, and do not form part of the consultation

Marking a consultation as relevant to a particular audience indicates that it may be of special relevance to people within that group. It doesn't, however, mean that other groups wont find the consultation of interest - we welcome responses from everybody.
For example, education issues may be of particular interest to Parents & Guardians, and so will be shown to people searching the system for parenting issues, but the views of others (eg: Business, Faith Groups) are also relevant.
